Debra Chantal Avelar-Castañeda
a first generation Mexican American dancer and choreographer based in East San Jose. Her work focuses on shining light to Mexican women, and the struggles they face within the US. She graduated from SFSU with a bachelors in Dance, and is now focusing on providing financially accessible dance classes for her community. – In her compelling new work, Debra delves into the emotional and practical journeys of Mexican mothers as they navigate the challenges of building new lives abroad—reshaping not only their own identities, but also guiding their families through the complex process of cultural adjustment.
Will Loewen
an ambitious dancer with a background in improvisation and athletics. After studying dance at Bennington College and Austin Community College, Will moved to San Francisco to further his dance career. Oakland Originalz –
a dynamic breakdance crew based out of Oakland, California—an LLC that performs, battles, and teaches while staying rooted in community values. The group emerged from Oakland Breakerz, with founding members who split off to start something new. One pivotal member, known as Gideon (Gidnasty), became the driving force behind the formation of Oakland Originalz, eventually becoming its leader. Oakland Originalz is a high-energy breakdance crew based in Oakland, California, known for electrifying performances that blend dynamic street dance with cultural storytelling. Founded by local artists passionate about community empowerment, the group fuses hip-hop, acrobatics, and motivational messaging to inspire audiences of all ages. Whether performing on global stages, teaching youth workshops, or showcasing Bay Area pride, Oakland Originalz brings movement to life with purpose, passion, and originality.
The Dance Ranch / Tai Lum (they / them)
received a BFA in Dance at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Tai Lum grew up in San Francisco, studying at the San Francisco Ballet School, LINES Ballet Teen Company, and the ODC Dance Jam. Tai went to high school at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts. T A L K I N G is an introspective exploration of time, identity, and responsibility through the eyes of a young person confronting the uncertain path ahead. With honesty and vulnerability, the piece navigates pressing questions about aging, caregiving, and the weight of future roles—what does it mean to grow older while supporting both children and parents? Through spoken reflections—directed inward, outward, and toward loved ones—T A L K I N G becomes a moving meditation on generational connection, personal strength, and the search for clarity in the midst of life’s unfolding complexity.

Corinne’s new work delves into the depth and complexity of a sibling relationship, tracing the emotional landscape between two sisters bound by love, distance, and unspoken history. Through moments of tension and tenderness, it explores themes of abandonment, insecurity, isolation, and the quiet power of mutual understanding. What unfolds is an intimate portrait of connection—fragile, resilient, and always evolving.
