SAFEhouse Arts announces the West Wave Leadership Workshops for Bay Area QT&POC performing artists. Workshops in January, February, and March 2021 are designed for artists to develop creative work, practical administrative skill sets, and engage with the local seniors. All workshops are free to participants and participants will be considered for a paid performance opportunity to show work in the West Wave Festival in June 2021.
Details on the workshop series: Each month SAFEhouse Arts Lead Artists and staff will guide participants in creative exercises and administrative skill building. Each artist will develop a new performance work with one feedback session with a Lead Artist mentor. Artists will have the opportunity to work with mentors on practical arts administration skills including grant writing, marketing, social media and networking. Artists will participate in a community outreach program with local seniors.
SAFEhouse invites QT&POC artists to apply by completing a short application that includes a one paragraph statement of interest and questions about artists administrative and artistic histories. SAFEhouse Arts encourages artists who are self-motivated, work cooperatively, and interested in growing their creative and arts administration skills to apply to the workshop series. Previous QT&POC RAW artists are encouraged to apply.
Ten artists who have successfully completed the workshop series (all workshops) and who are recommended by Lead SAFEhouse Artists, are eligible to participate in the 28th annual West Wave Festival, either online or live in June 2021. Selected artists who show work in the West Wave Festival will receive a $1000 stipend after the festival.

* JAN 30, FEB 27 & MAR 27, 2021 Monthly workshops for all participants
* APR 01, 2021 – Ten artists will be selected to participate in the West Wave Festival (West Wave artist’s residencies will be extended through the festival)
* APR 2021 (date TBA) – Joint workshop for SAFEhouse Lead Artists and West Wave Leadership artists
* MAY 2021 (date TBA) – Works-in-progress presentation with peer-to-peer feedback
* JUN 2021 (dates TBA) – West Wave Festival
